Shop opening: Super Goods

In Mechelen, Belgium, recently opened a new ecodesign store called „ Super Goods“. Super Goods offers a large variety of environmentally friendly and ethical products, ranging from furniture and homeware to clothing and accessories. The Super Goods shop device says it all “Good stuff for good people”: products designed by small European and international producers with respect for the environment and social rights of workers. All items are made from recycled, overstock, fair trade or otherwise sustainable materials.

Shop owners, the Belgian Finnish couple Tonny Van Bavel and Anne Hilden, started dreaming about their eco design shop in 2011 but it wasn´t until they found the perfect location in the “Onze-Lieve-Vrouwestraat” that they started making concrete plans. The building became available on July 1^st which meant they only had 2 months to set up their store before the big opening. Hard work, but they managed to open their doors in August and the result is stunning!

These are my favorite items: The flying birds necklace by Finnish designer Poola Kataryna / the second chance Laura dress / the bright green enveloppe bag by Deux Filles en Fil / the pickle pot lamp - I am waiting for the lamp to arrive and can´t wait to hang it in my kitchen.

Sweden trip

I recently went to Sweden to visit my lovely friend Christel from Rosalita Vintage

Christel and I met and lived together in New York, so you could definitely say that we saw eachother again in a different setting. The beautiful nature of Sweden confirmed every expectation I had about the country. We enjoyed the sunny autumn days and talked over coffee and cookies.

Afterwards we headed for Stockholm for some vintage shopping and city trippin. As a local, Christel showed me some cool places. My favorites were Grandpa and Beyond retro.

Berlin´s (secret) garden

In the vibrant Berlin neighbourhood, Kreuzberg, you can find the Prinzessinnengärten (Princess Gardens), a mobile urban farm. The garden project was launched in 2009 at a site which had been a wasteland for over half a century. The once hidden and forgotten corner made place for a little urban garden adventure : Fruit, vegetables and herbs are being grown in wooden boxes, milk cartons, ....and everything is organic - no pesticides allowed. During winter the mobile garden moves into the Eisenbahnmarkthalle, an old covered market in Kreuzberg. 
You can walk through the garden and have a drink or a snack, made out of fresh garden vegetables and herbs of course. Last week they even organised a flea market in the garden.
