Peaches & Peaches Pt. II

This Summer I cooperated with Karolien and Lies from Peaches & Peaches. I was curious to know how they would style my jewelry. I really like the way Karolien integrated romantic pieces of jewelry in her edgy style. In the pictures below Karolien is wearing a chunky beaded necklacea pair of collar clips and the gathering birds ring.

Karolien and I had a little talk and this is what she had to say ...

VB: Tell us something about yourself.
Karolien: I´m Karolien, one of the peaches in Peaches & Peaches, and a sucker for customized band tees and cut-off denim shorts. Basically an organized chaos with a love for fashion and working hard on a PhD in psychology.

VB: What do you like about being a fashion blogger?
Karolien: I would not even call myself a fashion blogger, but blogging for me is all about expressing myself and finding a way to channel my creativity. It´s also fun to read tons of interesting stuff and updating my own writing skills.

VB: How would you describe your style and in what sense is it different from the style of Lies?
Karolien: My style is mostly quite edgy with some rock vibes, but on other occasions I find myself dressing candy sweet and cute. Because of this eclectic style, Lies and I look very alike on some days, but can differ as day and night on other days (that is when I am letting my inner rock star out).

VB: What are your must haves for a typical cold and gray belgian winter?
Karolien: A good, warm coat is a necessity when living in Belgium, as well as sturdy (biker) boots. However, what really cannot lack in your wardrobe when wanting to survive the belgian winter is a beanie in every color available.

VB: Do you have recommendations for other bloggers?
Karolien: Just do your own thing!

The outfits of Lies, the other half of Peaches & Peaches, can be found here.

Fashion Freaks

Dorien from Fashion Freaks has style, that´s the least we can say when looking at these pictures. Her outfits are playful and well combined and I always think "I would love to have this exact same outfit in my closet".

I got to know Dorien when I asked her if she wanted to style some of my jewelry in her outfit posts. You can see the results here and here. Now, here´s a short Q&A with Dorien so you guys can get to know her a little bit better too.

VB: Tell us something about yourself.
Dorien: I am Dorien Swerts, graduate communication management. I´m currently working to save up for a Master Fashion Management in Milan. My blog is about fashion. I share outfits on my blog, things that inspire me and products I like.

VB: How would you describe your style?
Dorien: My style is very versatile. One day I can wear dresses and pumps, the other day I can wear jeans and boots.

VB: What was your latest fashion purchase?
Dorien: A pair of very cute brown heeled ankle boots from avance (take a look at them here)

VB: Which are your favorite belgian blogs?
VB: FashionataFashionfolioJe suis Sophie and Anouk meets fashion.

Our cooperation continues... Dorien wants to thank her fans with a new give away and I donated one of my necklaces from the Goldies collection to do that. Here you can find out what you have to do to win. Good luck guys!

Peaches & Peaches Pt. I

I discovered the Peaches & Peaches blog about a year ago. Shortly after I moved back to Belgium, after having lived in Berlin for two years. I immediately liked it: the outfits, the pictures and they were from the same neighbourhood as I was.

I contacted Lies and Karolien, the two girls behind the blog, and asked them if they wanted to use some of my jewelry for their outfit posts. I was excited to see how they would style jewelry with a girly and romantic touch and how they would integrate these pieces in their "rock chic look".

The results look great as you can see in the pictures above. Lies is wearing the fly away necklace in the first two pictures and the pink teardrop earrings in the last two.

I had a short Q&A with Lies:

VB: Tell us something about yourself.
Lies: Hi, I am Lies. 25 years old and besides pretty clothes I am crazy about cats, sushi and sipping wine with friends.

VB: When and why did you start blogging?
Lies: We started blogging in april 2012. Not for a particular reason. We both like to read blogs, so why not start one ourselves.

VB: Is there a fashion trend (previous or current) that you would never follow?
Lies: I fear that bootcut jeans are back in the picture, as a true skinny jeans fan I don´t think you´ll see me wearing a bootcut jeans any time soon.

VB: What are the three favorite items in your closet?
Lies: My black skinny jeans, a jumper I bought three years ago which is not only pretty but also carries a lot of memories and my military green winter coat I bought last year.

VB: You have traveled a lot this Summer. Are there any winter trips coming up?
Lies: There are no trips planned yet for me (boo!), but I might make some time for a little citytrip (Venice, maybe?).

VB: What are your future plans for the blog?
Lies: I hope we can go on like we do now. Maybe post more frequently with more inspirational posts and update my photography skills.

You can visit their blog and have a look at all their amazing outfits here.

Triangles

The aztek print is a hype ... I know and I like it. But I am also in love with more simple abstract shapes. Especially triangle prints seem to work for me lately, in clothing as well as in accessories.
You don´t have to look long, to find beautiful things online decorated with cute triangles.

Here are some of my favorites:

1. A neon pink triangle tote bag from Little bright studio. The tote bag is made with organic canvas and on sale at the moment.

2. A box of 12 coloured magnets to form different shapes with from Paper plane home. This webshop has so many beautiful items for your home.

3. A peach coloured triangle patterned notebook from MintAfternoon.

4. The prettiest decorative tape in different colours can be found at Seventytree. This is also a good place to find original postcards and artwork.

5. Go extreme with a bright triangle wall as seen on the Poppytalk blogspot.

6. A cool camera needs a cool camera strap. You can find this lovely piece on Designlovefest.

Cheers,

Sarah

Jena Ardell

I recently discovered the beautiful work of Jena Ardell, who calls herself a "retro lifestyle photographer". Her pictures have this lovely vintage flair, which she creates by using vintage Polaroid cameras and by styling her own shoots, using her extensive collection of vintage clothing and accessories.

Her pictures take you back in time to a summer in the 60´s or the 70´s and you feel like travelling in California, visiting the beach and sleeping in retro looking drive in hotels. At least I do!

You can discover her work here: Jena Ardell

A colour can make your day

Can you still have a favourite colour once your older than 16? Well I do and it is blue. I always catch myself bying blue things, whether it are clothes, cushions, earrings or kitchen utensils.

Here are my favourite blue things of the moment:

One: This lovely blue vintage scale from Urban Farmgirl. In this Etsy shop you can also find the coolest vintage map magnets.

Two: A cool bird print from Citrus Tree Designs.

Three: Must have 1980´s vintage sky blue shoes. I would wear them every day.

Four: Another lovely pillow for my couch?

Have a nice weekend!

Time for disco dancing!

Christmas and New Year´s eve are coming up. I can´t believe how fast this year went by (and yes I say this every year). I do like to dress up for these occassions, although I don´t like to overdo it. No hours in front of the mirror for me. I was thinking about "a hint of glitter" to celebrate the beginning of 2012 and I found some pretty outfits online:

Glitter skirt on we heart it
Disco dancing shoes on Steffys pros and cons
Glitter dress for rock chicks on Hoard of trends

I wish you all happy holidays!

Gift wrapping

I love giving gifts to family and friends and I can really spend some time on wrapping a gift. I choose a special paper that I like, craft name tags or use colourful masking tape. The wrapping is part of the gift.

On A creative mint I found some very inspiring ideas, such as using the Trader Joe´s bags as wrapping paper (too bad there´s no Trader Joe´s in Europe). Ofcourse you can find everything you need to craft on Etsy, Dawanda or in your local crafting shop, but use and re-use can even be more fun!

one and two were found on A creative mint and here are the links to three and four.

Ready for winter?

Berlin, 10.30 pm, 2°C ... time to start preparing for winter.
This week, I realised for the first time that I need a scarf and gloves, when I leave the house to go to work in the morning. I enjoyed the first cold on my cheeks, but also knew this is only the mild start of what might become a cold cold winter.

I searched the internet for some pretty winter finds and here are my favorites:

one: a dark blue skirt and wine red socks as combined by Coury from Fancy Treehouse
two: cool trekkin boots as found on Modcloth.com
three: warm mittens with a norwegian print for sale on Etsy
four: a cute beret handmade by the Australian Kani

And the winter outfit below is just the cutest...

Maptote

When walking the Berlin streets, one of the things you can not ignore is the tote bag. So many young people use them, not only to go shopping but as an alround purse. I am not sure yet whether it´s only a temporary hype or a sustainable and environmental friendly new trend.
If you are looking for an original totebag, take a look at the Maptote website. A Brooklyn based young couple creates environmentally friendly tote bags and wine totes with maps of cities printed on it. Your bag will come in handy when you´re lost.

On maptote you can find a tote bag or wine tote for almost every city! Go and find your favorite.

Have a nice weekend

Dear Photograph

This idea is genius in it´s simplicity. Hold up a photograph from the past in front of the same location where it was shot and photograph this setting in the present. What a beautiful way to remember the old days. You will be surprised how much things have changed over the years.

Dear Photograph was founded in May 2011, by Taylor Jones and has become very popular since.
I posted my favorites pics but there are many more on the website or you can even upload a picture yourself.

Dear Creatures Dresses

These summer dresses really are Dear Creatures, I wouldn´t even know which one to choose.
These dresses are from the Dear Creatures Spring 2011 collection (I am too late, I know ...) which was inspired by everything nostalgic, playful and lighthearted. Very very pretty and lighthearted indeed!
Most of the Dear Creatures shops are in the USA (although there is one in Italy and in France too), but they also sell their lovely collections online, which makes us Europeans happy.

Blue Lime

Colour of the month... blue lime
Makes me think of a refreshing lake, a sour-sweet cocktail, a summer breeze, a picknick in the parc, ...
I am going to look for a vintage sweater in blue lime and get ready for breezy summer nights.

All pics were found on we heart it

Ah this sweater of Gary Pepper Vintage would be perfect. Too bad it´s already sold and it was a little pricy anyway. Maybe the thrift shop can offer me a cheaper look-a-like.
More beautiful items can be found on the GPV Website
